The Real Cure Against Future Sniper Attacksby Greg Quinn Man is a sinful creature. Of all the creations of God, mankind is the only creation "made in the image of God" with a soul and free will to live any way they like. God created us all for good, yet when tempted by Satan in the Garden of Eden, mankind fell into something God calls "sin". This sin drove a wedge between man and his Creator, and because of this sin God had to develop a plan to reconcile mankind back to God. That reconciliation plan was in the fashion of a sinless Saviour by the name of Jesus Christ, God in man form, who came to Earth to live a perfect life as an example to man, and to die a cruel death as a punishment for our sin. Because of Jesus' sacrifice for us, we have hope; hope of a better place called Heaven where we can spend eternity with the God who created us. We have all done things very wrong and contrary to God's plan, but still He loves us and has a plan for us that, if we will but accept his grace and the sacrifice provided to reconcile us back to Him, we can receive forgiveness for our sin and can know peace in this life and hope for the future. Now, thousands of years later, we smart people of the 21st century have all but taken the concept of sin and accountability to God for wrong and lessened it to the point where the line between good and evil is much less clear than ever before. One doesn't need to go back to the very beginning to see the fall of society. Just go back 50 years, or 30 years, or 10 years. How would people of your grandparents generation respond to what is becoming commonplace in society today? Did your parents ever talk about school shootings? If you are over the age of 40 today, reflect back upon your childhood. Did you live in a society as I did where locking the door was optional, when business was done by a shake of the hand, when the center point of community activity revolved around the church, when the biggest problem in school was a playground fistfight or chewing gum in class? What happened? For one, we have taken God out of our lives. Prayer was abolished in schools, and the lack of discipline and order soon followed. Man got so smart that the continuous attempt to take credit for God's miracles is commonplace, and the feeling that "we don't need God" replaced our need for God. Churches have gotten so weak that it's hard to find one that will take a stand against wrong anymore. The line between "good" and "evil" is not so clear. The laws of our land are not built upon God's 10 Commandments as designed by our forefathers, and our public places even forbid the posting of God's law. Our acceptance of any man's religion has moved to the point where we cannot as a land say we are "one nation under God" any longer. "Tolerance" has replaced "righteousness". Sin is not sin anymore. Man has become his own god, forsaking the laws and love of the one true God, the God of the Bible. Secondly, we make reality what we want reality to become. Truth is no truth anymore. If you don't like one reality, wait a bit and it will change. Laws are not to protect man, but are an opportunity for a smart lawyer to convince a judge or jury that even the guilty can go Scot free. We can look truth in the face and expect it to change because we desire it to be so. Like arguing with a stump that a tree never was there, we define our realities based on our desires instead of the desires of our God or the laws of our land. So, here we are. We live in the greatest nation on earth, but one where we cannot contain our borders nor control the element of crime in our streets. We live in a free country, but our freedoms are being jeopardized daily by uncaring politicians that for a buck or their ego put these same freedoms at risk. We get into arguments over Second Amendment rights, the right to keep and bear arms, like it is an evil freedom that should be taken from a free people. We have laws that protect the murder of the unborn, but that free murderers on legal technicalities. Our prisons are too crowded so we let the prisoners back out in the streets to commit more crime. Our laws favor those that can afford the best attorneys. Many in this great nation are so confused that they honestly believe that a mechanical devise of metal called a gun possesses enough evil to take the life of a human being, rather than realize that only life can take life. Guns are not evil; they are inanimate objects. People are evil, and as long as there exists in the heart of a man enough evil to take the life of another, then whether it be by a gun or a knife or a rock or a stick, this evil will prevail unless contained by God's love and grace. Gunblast has been a popular site for those that favor shooting sports for approximately two years now. We have devoted ourselves to truthfully letting the public know what are good firearms related products (and not so good) on the market through our tests and analysis. We have also spoken our mind, and through our feedback pages, allowed our readership to do the same. Due to the events of recent, and the evil in the heart of a couple of men, we have witnessed terrible attacks on innocent people resulting in death and injury. We abhor the evil in the hearts of these men, and like most good people in our nation want justice for these wrongs against God, society, and our fellow man. We hope these men are swiftly judged and punished for their evil deeds. Yet, there are many who have written to us that are so blind that they wish to blame the weapon, the instrument, instead of the ones that used the instrument for evil. A gun never killed anyone. A gun is a tool. In the hands of a responsible person a gun is a tool of protection, of enjoyment, of honor. In the hands of an evil person a gun is a tool of destruction. The problem is not with Bushmaster or any other gun. The problem goes much deeper, deep into the heart of man itself. The problem is with man. If we live in a society where man has become his own god, where there is no accountability for our wrongs, where we spit in the face of the one true God by acknowledging any other god, where we don't punish evil, then actions such as what we have witnessed will continue. Ignorant politicians can call for all the gun control laws they desire and will accomplish nothing but take the means of self-defense away from honest citizens, while the crook still has easy access to his weapons of choice. But I have an answer. No, not a new gun control law. No, not an appeal to pass any legislation, open any new prisons, seek any funds or endorsements. My answer is much simpler. Let's go back to God's way. Let's replace the picket signs with Biblical truths. Let's seek God's mercy instead of new laws. Let's ask the God of Heaven to hear our prayers and heal our land. Let's open the freedoms of prayer even wider than those of Second Amendment rights. Let's study God's law in the Bible instead of seeking to write new legislation. Let's recognize our sinful nature and overcome this through God's love. And, let's share this love with those that do not know it. Man is a sinful creature. This is true. We live in a sinful and evil day. But, we can do something about it. Seek God's love. Understand God's love. Accept Jesus Christ as your personal means of salvation from a lost and dying world. And, share God's love with others. As man becomes less evil, our world becomes less evil. Then and only then will the horrors that we have witnessed over the past few weeks, and over the past few years, be eliminated.
