Silent No More!
By Greg QuinnJune 29th, 2009 I’ve taken a lot of flak over my commentaries in Politics & Opinion, but probably none more than “Unclench the Fist”. In this article, I was simply stating that since Obama was elected as our President, we should give him the opportunity to perform in the job that the American people put him into. Anyone that has read any of my writings, either in Greg’s Corner or in Politics & Opinion, certainly would recognize that I am not an Obama fan. My conservative ideals are so far opposed to those of President Obama that it is very difficult to find middle ground. However, as one of his fiercest opponents during the campaign, since the American people elected him as our leader, I felt an obligation as a good citizen to allow him to do his job. I have kept quiet. I have sat by and have taken criticism for not speaking out more vehemently against his plans to date. I have stewed under my breath at the bone-headed decisions that he is making as our President. But, as I see Obama leading our nation down a funnel that is totally counter-productive and anti-American, and so far removed from what our Founding Fathers had envisioned, I must again speak out and speak loudly. I am silent no more! As depicted in a memorable scene from Sidnet Lumet's great 1976 movie "Network", the TV anchor sticks his head out the window and shouts, “I’m as mad as hell, and I’m not going to take it anymore!” This should be an accurate description as to how all Americans should feel at this point. Me included. You included. Obama is selling out America. One report stated that Obama, in his first several months of office, has spent more money than all US Presidents’ in history…combined! He is printing more and more money, money borrowed from places like China, to make American an indebted nation. The Bible says “the borrower is slave to the lender”. I don’t know about you, but I don’t feel comfortable being a “slave” to China. He is selling us as a nation down the river. If we survive the financial woes in our generation, then our grandchildren and great-grandchildren will pay the price in the future. Obama has a plan to change our form of government. The US government is established as a Constitutional Republic. Obama doesn’t even understand this. His comments of recent about America being a democracy attest this fact. In a democracy, majority rules no matter what. Look at what is happening in Iran. Democratic process ruled and most don’t like the decision made. We utilize a democratic process in America, but we are a republic guided by a constitution. Obama doesn’t understand. He wants to change the Constitution to meet his liberal agenda. He wants to eliminate our current government function to employ methods and manners more his way of thinking. Like the appointment of “czars” to get around the elected officials such as Representatives and Senators; taking the voice away from the people and giving it only to those singular with his own. He is socialist in his mindset and his actions, and socialist policies do not play well within a Constitutional Republic or even a pure democratic process. Instead of changing his mindset, he wants to change the government to meet his mindset. This is very dangerous. Obama doesn’t understand the Biblical influence on America. Obama has recently stated that “America is not a Christian nation”. Most Americans, however, claim to be Christian. In a recent poll by Pew Research, some 82% of Americans claimed some form of Christian belief (“Christian” here including Catholic and all Protestant religions). In the same poll, roughly 4% of Americans said they were Muslim in their faith. Obama, speaking to the French leadership a few weeks back, stated that America is a Muslim nation. How can Obama claim that America is not Christian when our entire history, and our founding fathers’ direction, was clearly Christian-based? How can Obama argue with the Biblical foundation of our country when our Constitution, Declaration of Independence, and all founding directives of our nation were clearly based upon the Bible? (Read more soon surrounding this topic in Greg’s Corner). How can Obama dispute the math and claim that America is Muslim when only 4% of our country claim to be Muslim? How can Obama counter the overwhelming majority of the population and state that America is non-Christian? So, our President, if he doesn’t like the facts of a given situation, simply lies and changes the facts. The Biblical foundation of our great country is one of those facts he’d like to change, so he figures if he says it long enough people will believe he is right. But, he is wrong. Obama wants to replace our freedoms and liberties with only those that meet his approval. Obama believes guns are bad. So, he has a plan to take our guns. Forget what the Constitution says. He plans to take your guns. Obama believes that we Americans are too ignorant to make decisions for ourselves, so he wants to change government and have the government make our decisions for us. Obama wants to socialize healthcare, education (more than it is now), and business. Look at what he is doing to take over and run private businesses now (such as GM and Chrysler). It will get much worse unless he is stopped. Obama sees millions of illegal immigrants as the people that will keep him in office, so he wants to grant them immediate citizenship. This thwarts our freedoms as Americans. But he doesn’t care about the laws of our nation as much as he does his political ambition. I could go on and on, but anyone that listens to anything our current President says will quickly come to agree with me that our freedoms as Americans are only good if they are in line with Obama’s way of thinking. Obama endorses racist beliefs. Before you attack me for saying this, look back at the election. If I, being a white man with some influence, stood up and stated that I was going to vote for Senator McCain because he is white, I would have been labeled a racist and worse! But, Oprah Winfrey, Colin Powell and many others can state that they voted for Obama because he is a black man, and that is OK. Obama has played the race card all during the campaign and while in office. Bush couldn’t have done so, but Obama can. Why? Because his skin color is darker. That, my friends, is racist. Black people in America are only “African Americans” if they are Americans that personally came from Africa. I doubt we have a lot of these in America. My lineage is Irish, but I am not an Irish-American because I am not personally an Irish immigrant that is now a US Citizen. A Mexican-American is a current US citizen that once was a citizen of Mexico, not every American that is of Mexican ancestry. So, why the big issue of race? Why is race so central in what Obama does that makes people look away from the lunacy of his policies and embrace him because of what he is (or isn’t) instead of who he is? Isn’t this racist? Isn’t it racist to make a decision based upon the color of a man’s skin instead of the validity of a man’s character? I am not saying that Obama personally is a racist; I do not know the man nor have I seen anything that would cause me to make such a statement. But, I can say that he embraces the benefits of racism that put him in office, and that is allowing him to get by with what he is doing that is harmful to America. I am personally very proud that we have a black man in the White House, and I think it is good for America. However, I believe we have the wrong black man in the role of President of the United States, not because of the color of his skin, but because of the color of his character and the indifference he has for what is good for America. Obama believes in “change”. But not all change is good. I hope by now Americans are finally accepting this. Obama got elected on a mantra of “change”. A “change” from free enterprise to socialism is not positive change. A “change” from a balanced budget to being the most indebted people in the history of the world is not positive change. A “change” from democratic to socialist practices is not the kind of change we need. I am afraid that the “changes” proposed by Obama will bankrupt our nation, and “change” what was the most powerful country in the world into another once-been. How can we allow this “change” to go on? Obama is Socialist; America is not. We are a Constitutional Republic form of government. We believe in utilizing the democratic process in making decisions, as long as these decisions do not depart from the Constitution under which we are governed. Obama believes in “redistribution of wealth”. In other words, take from those that produce and give to those that do not. The USSR and Germany once believed the same way. I don’t know about you, but that is not my desired future as an American. Obama believes that if you don’t like the directives of the Constitution, change the Constitution instead of compliance. Obama believes in big government. Obama believes that the government should make our decisions for us, as to how we receive health care, how our children are educated, how we retire, how much money we have, who has the money, etc. This is so far from the basis of what America represents that it isn’t funny. But, given freedom to engage his plans unhindered, Obama will see America resemble more of a socialist government than that of a government “of the people, by the people”. I sincerely hope that Obama changes direction, or that our elected officials (Representatives and Senators) prevent Obama from leading this country down the path he has chosen. We need “change” in fact. We need change toward the leadership provided by Presidents like Washington, Truman, Roosevelt, and Reagan. We do not need the socialist, bankrupting change that Obama is proposing. He must be forced to keep his harmful changes at bay, and the only way we can do that is to utilize our voice in order to let our elected officials know that they must resist Obama and his plans to destroy our nation. How can you engage in the salvation of America?
Be silent no more! America is the greatest country in the world. Let’s keep it that way. You have as much right as any other American to cast your voice into what is best for our nation. Do your job. Speak your voice. Be silent no more! I thank you in advance for your love of America, and your actions that represent this passion for keeping us great.
